BEST bus runs over teen at Wadala, driver arrested
A BEST bus driver has been arrested for running over a 14-year-old boy in Mumbai’s Wadala area.
According to officials, the incident took place near Vidyalankar College on Saturday evening when Moin Peer Mohammad Khan was riding pillion on his brother Raees’ two-wheeler.
“Raees lost control over the two-wheeler and Moin fell on the road near Vidyalankar College. A BEST bus coming from behind crushed Moin under its wheels. We have arrested driver Nilesh Bodke,” an official was quoted as saying.
While Moin died in the mishap, Raees sustained severe injuries. He is currently being treated in a civic-run hospital and his condition is said to be critical.
The bus driver, Bodke, has been booked and arrested under sections 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way), 304 (A) (causing death by negligence) and 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) of Indian Penal Code.
He has been remanded in judicial custody till December 21.
