Sena workers shaved my head for posting against CM Thackeray, claims Wadala resident
A group of Shiv Sena workers allegedly thrashed and shaved the head of a Wadala resident for posting “objectionable” social media post against party president and Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.
Hiramani Tiwari claimed that the workers came after him after he slammed the CM on Facebook for his recent remark over the Jamia Millia incident. The post was made from the Facebook account in the name ‘Rahul Tiwari’, which he operates.
Tiwari deleted the post after he got threats from some people, but on Sunday, a group led by Sena functionaries Samadhan Jukdeo and Prakash Hasbe beat him up and shaved his head outside his Shanti Nagar residence.
“On December 19, I posted that Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s comparison of Jamia Millia incident with Jallianwala Bagh was wrong. After that 25-30 people thrashed me and tonsured my head,” Hiramai Tiwari told news agency ANI.
“I went to the police station. Police officials prepared a report that I was beaten up. But after some time they typed a new letter and asked me to compromise… I demand strict action in the case,” he said.
Earlier on December 17, Thackeray had compared police action in Delhi’s Jamia Millia Islamia to Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
“What happened at Jamia Millia Islamia University is like Jallianwala Bagh. Students are like a ‘Yuva bomb’. So we request the Central government to not do what they are doing with students,” he had said.
The Maharashtra CM’s statements came after protests against the new citizenship law turned violent and were followed by stern police action, in which several students were injured.
Meanwhile, when asked about the action taken against the accused Sena workers, a police official said the two parties have reached a compromise and further action would be taken if they receive a complaint.
