In Pics: First look of the newly inaugurated Ahmedabad-Mumbai Tejas Express
The Ahmedabad-Mumbai Tejas Express, the second semi high-speed train to be run by Railway subsidiary IRCTC, was flagged off from Ahmedabad on Friday morning by Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani.
The train departed from Ahmedabad at 10.45 am and is expected to reach Mumbai in six-and-a-half hours. The regular commercial run of the train will begin on January 19 from Ahmedabad.
This is the IRCTC’s second premium train after the inaugural Tejas Express which operates between Delhi and Lucknow.

According to BJP MP Kirit Solanki, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal was expected to attend the flagging off ceremony but could not arrive due to bad weather.
“It is a matter of pride that this semi high-speed, second train Tejas Express has been flagged off between Ahmedabad and Mumbai. This will benefit both states,” Rupani said after flagging off the train.
“Work on the bullet train is also going on the Mumbai- Ahmedabad route,” he said.
The Tejas Express between Ahmedabad and Mumbai Central (number 82902/82901) will run six days a week, except on Thursday which is reserved for maintenance activities.
The train will start from Ahmedabad at 6:40 am and reach Mumbai Central at 1.10 pm. Its return journey will commence from Mumbai Central at 3:40 pm and the train will arrive at Ahmedabad 9:55 pm.
It will halt at Nadiad, Vadodara, Bharuch, Surat, Vapi and Borivali stations in both directions.
The fully air-conditioned train has a total carrying capacity of 736 passengers. It comprises of two AC Chair Car Executive Class coaches with 56 seats each and eight AC Chair Car coaches which can each carry 78 passengers.
The ticket price of the Ahmedabad-Mumbai Tejas Express will be dynamic and change depending on the availability and prices of alternatives like trains, airfares, buses, etc. Further, prices will also fluctuate depending on seasons.
For bookings, passengers will have to visit IRCTC’s website or other third-party partners like Railyatri, Make My Trip, Ixigo, PhonePe, Paytm, Google, Ibibo, etc. There is no option to book tickets at railway reservation counters.
During the journey, passengers will avail of free insurance for rail travel and home theft, onboard infotainment services in executive class, onboard meals prepared by service staff, unlimited tea, RO water among other facilities.
