Labourer’s leg gets fractured as truck collides with FOB in Panvel
A labourer, Shamsher Shaikh, was severely injured as the goods trailer he was traveling in rammed into a foot-over bridge. The accident happened on the Yashwantrao Chavan Highway on Wednesday at 3:30 a.m.
The multi-axle trailer Shaikh was traveling in was headed towards Panvel while carrying a pillar weighing 30 tonnes. The vehicle dashed into a foot-over bridge after the driver lost control of the vehicle. The collision left Shamsher Shaikh and two other labourers trapped under the pillar.
Fire officials arrived by 4 a.m. and began rescue operation which lasted for about four hours. A crane was used to move the pillar.
The injured were immediately sent to Sion Hospital. Doctors have said that Shaikh has suffered no major injury except for multiple fractures on his right leg and a few fractures on his left leg.
