Boys steal dad’s money to buy mobile phones; commit suicide fearing rebuke
Two teenage brothers from Nalasopara allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a moving train between Nalasopara and Vasai railway stations yesterday.
The siblings – identified as Praveen Gupta (16) and Arun Gupta (13) – had gone missing from their home last week after stealing their father ATM card and Rs 6,000 cash. The boys withdrew Rs 37,000 using the ATM card and bought smartphones for themselves.
Upon being searched by the police and the family members, the boys were found loitering in the locality. Their father reprimanded them for going absconding, and hence escape from home again and supposedly committed.
The duo supposedly took the drastic step out of fear of getting scolded again if their parents found out that they had bought mobile phones from the stolen money.
