Indian Olympics Association’s (IOA) decision to appoint Salman Khan as the Indian Contingent’s Goodwill Ambassador for the Rio Olympics has sparked a nationwide debate.
While several sportsmen, from Milkha Singh to wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt, have condemned the decision, Salman’s ex-flame Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has come out in support of him.
In the past, the Bachchan bahu has categorically declined from discussing any topic concerning Bollywood’s Bhaijaan. But, the ‘Sarabjit’ actress got dragged into the matter after an unknown individual started an online petition for having Salman removed under the name of ‘Aishwarya Rai’.
At a recent event, when the media pressed Ash to comment on the controversy, she replied, “I just have to say that anybody who is doing good and representing the country and working for whatever vocation we have done for the betterment of the country be it sports or any other field is wonderful and that needs to be recognized”.
Ash’s response was, as always, politically correct. But, at least she answered this time around.Back to latest news
