Shah Rukh Khan unable to find a release date for Raees, pushes it to 2017
Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees can’t seem to lock onto an opportune release date. This King Khan starer was set to clash with Salman Khan’s Sultan at the box office on Eid this year until Shah Rukh decided to avoid the clash and postpone the release.
SRK wants Raees to release on a holiday or a festival, given collections are high on such days. However, all such dates of the year 2016 have already been occupied by other movies.
Previously, the actor was looking to release his movie in July or during Diwali this year. But Varun Dhawan’s Dishoom is hitting theatres this July while a Karan Johar movie will is slated for a Diwali release.
After reports of Aamir Khan’s Dangal postponing its release to 2017 emerged, SRK even eyed a Christmas 2016 release. But, Dangal team later finalized its release on December 23, leaving Shah Rukh with no option but to push the release to 2017.
Reportedly, SRK has pushed Raees for a 2017 release and is eyeing January 26. But, Hrithik Roshan’s home production Kaabil is also set to come out on the same day. The ‘FAN’ actor is in currently in talks with the Roshans to ensure their movies don’t eat into each other’s profits.
The release conundrum has left the Badshah of Bollywood no choice but to accept an inevitable clash since he cannot stall the release of Raees much longer.
