Will take action against those who stop ‘Angoori Bhabhi’, says MNS
Recently, reports of a ban on TV actress Shilpa Shinde, aka ‘Angoori Bhabhi’ from popular TV show ‘Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai’, made news.
The reports claimed that the actress was slapped with a lifetime ban by Cine and TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA) and could no longer sign any TV show. Even broadcasters were forbidden from working with the actress.
Coming to Angoori Bhabhi’s rescue, and adding a marathi twist to the tale, is none other than Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray. His political party has openly said that it will take action against anyone who stops the actress, who is also a Maharashtrian coincidentally, to work and earn a livelihood in the state.
“We don’t value these federation(s). Nobody can stop Shilpa Shinde. If anyone stops her from working in Maharashtra, we will take action against the producers and channels in our own way. If they feel this is a threat, so be it,” said Ameya Khopkar, the president of Maharashtra Navnirman Chitrapat Karmachari Sena.
According to Shilpa, the producers wanted her to sign a contract which would bar her from doing other shows. After she refused, they cited ‘unprofessional’ conduct on her part and approached CINTAA.
Shilpa also alleged that the media had misinterpreted CINTAA’s letter to her. She claimed that CINTAA did not impose any ban on her. It simply stated that she would have to pay damages to the show’s producers before she would be allowed to work.
While the producers and the actress try to sort their differences, popular TV actress Shubhangi Atre has been roped in to play the character of ‘Angoori Bhabhi’ on the show.
