BMC inspects 34 roads, finds irregularities in all of them
An examination of the city’s roads by the BMC ended with the civic body finding irregularities in all of them.
On Monday, BMC submitted the inspection report of 34 roads to Mumbai Mayor Snehal Ambekar. According to the report, the civic body found irregularities in each and every road it had inspected.
Following the submission of the findings, the civic body registered FIRs at Azad Maidan police station against six contractors and two sub-auditors who were responsible for the construction the very next day.
The report was an inquiry into the construction of 34 roads for which tenders had been given to the six aforementioned contractors. It discovered inconsistencies in all of the works undertaken by them.
In addition to the contractors, an enquiry by the BMC also led them to believe that the assistant engineer, sub-engineer, deputy engineer and chief engineer of the roads department were involved in the matter.
Municipal Commissioner Ajoy Mehta has also filed a separate report and suggested that the contractors be blacklisted.
