Locals fuming over Subhash Ghai owned theatre’s colossal water wastage
The residents of housing societies in Lalbaug have alleged that since the past five to six months, celebrated producer Subhash Ghai’s Jaihind Cinema has been wasting hundreds of litres of water.
According to the locals, the theatre’s management fails to switch off the supply of its overhead tank when it gets filled, resulting in overflowing. Residents estimate that hundreds of litres of water is wasted in the process everyday.
While speaking to a city daily, one of the residents said, “We see the overhead tank overflowing around 9 am each day after the water from the tank below is pumped above. In housing societies, we switch off the pump when the tank gets filled. But here, the tank overflows, sometimes for hours. I once took the issue up with the theatre manager. He assured me that the problem would not recur. But, water is still being wasted,”
The locals have also shared a video of the tank overflowing.
When theatre manager Ajay Pandey was contacted for a confirmation, he denied the allegations saying that nobody has approached them with a complaint.
