Sena MLA declares that he takes money from builders to help them get clearances
The politician-builder nexus is not alien to the city, and also the fact that netas help realty developers get their work done for either cash or something in kind.
However, no politician has openly admitted to it, except for Ajay Chaudhari, Sena MLA from Sewri, who took to a microphone to announce his intention of getting his cut.
According to a city tabloid, Chaudhari addressed all stakeholders of Abhyudaya Nagar redevelopment project- the first cluster redevelopment project in South Central Mumbai with an estimated project value of Rs 5,000 crore – saying, “Builders will need to procure several permissions, and they will need to use me for that purpose.”
He went to add, “They will ask for help and that too beyond legal issues, and will certainly give something in return for the assistance that I will offer,” thereby confirming that he will not lose even this opportunity and will mint goodMONEY.
The speech made in front of the developers, society representatives and residents is worded to convey that Chaudhuri is in a position to stall the project’s progress.
“It is not that the redevelopment is decided yesterday and completed the next. It will need to go through several process and need several NOCs and permissions. As an MLA, it will need to take my assistance,” he is recorded as saying.
All the Shiv Sena leaders have gone mum after Chaudhuri’s declaration. When contacted by the tabloid, even the loud-mouth neta said he is busy and cannot speak about the matter.
