8 MNS workers sent to judicial custody till Dec 18 for vandalising Congress office

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) leader Sandeep Deshpande and seven other party workers have been sent to judicial custody till December 18 for vandalising the Congress party office.
The MNS worker were arrested for vandalising the Mumbai Regional Congress Committee office near Azad Maidan on Friday morning.

The workers of Raj Thackeray-led party had barged into the premises with sticks and destroyed glass cabins, fittings, and furniture in the office. However, no individual was hurt.
MNS later claimed responsibility for the attack, with its spokesperson Sandeep Deshpande terming it a ‘surgical strike’ on Congress.
Following which, all activists involved in the act were booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Criminal Amendment Act.
Congress Mumbai President Sanjay Nirupam, meanwhile, had dubbed the attack on their office a ‘cowardly act’.
The two parties have been at loggerheads since the last few weeks over the issue of illegal hawkers.
