BMC demolishes illegal extensions at Shatrughan Sinha’s Juhu home
The BMC on Monday razed illegal extensions and constructions in an eight-story residential building in Juhu owned by BJP MP Shatrughan Sinha. Per rules, a police complaint will also be filed against the actor.
The civic body had served notices to the parliamentarian after receiving several complaints about illegal extensions at his residence ‘Ramayan’. Although Sinha replied to the notices, officials found lapses and extensions violating construction norms.
Officials said Sinha, who was at home during the demolition work, cooperated while the extensions were being razed. The extensions, not in sync with the approved plan, included two toilets, a pantry, a toilet on the terrace, an office and a pooja room.
“We demolished all the unapproved constructions, but left the pooja room. We have given him time to relocate it. If he does not remove it, it will also be razed,” an official said.
In October, the civic body had partly demolished parts of Red Chillies Entertainment Pvt Ltd’s office, Shah Rukh Khan’s production company, in Malad.
