Cops arrest 6 Nigerians staying illegally in India

Police on Tuesday arrested six Nigerian nationals from Nallasopara who were living in the country without any valid visa or any other documents.

After getting tipped off about Nigerian and Bangladeshi nationals living illegally in the Vasai area, the District Collector and Superintendent of Police (SP) have directed police teams to carry out verification of all foreign nationals living in the area.

As part of the ongoing operation, officials arrested six Nigerian citizens residing in Pragati Nagar area of Nallasopara in Palghar district.

Of them, five did not have any valid documents related to their entry in India while the sixth was arrested for staying on a visa that had expired over a year ago.

Police have registered a case in the matter to ascertain how they entered the country and if they are involved in any illicit activities. Further investigation is underway.
