File case against Rahul Gandhi for ‘chowkidaar chor hai’ remark: Security Guards’ Association
In an unexpected development, the security guards’ association has asked Mumbai police to file a case against Congress President Rahul Gandhi for his “chowkidaar chor hai” remark.
According to officials, the Maharashtra Rajya Suraksha Rakshak Union submitted an application at the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) police station yesterday, claiming the statement was an “insult” to security guards.
The association has alleged that during his rally at Mumbai’s MMRDA grounds earlier this month, Gandhi said that “chowkidaar chor hai” (the guard is the thief).
The Congress president was taking potshots at Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he made the remark.
The Union president Sandeep Ghuge has demanded that police register an offence against Gandhi to stop “such kind of slogans insulting the security guards.”
Gandhi has been repeatedly hurling the “chowkidaar chor hai” jibe at Modi in a bid to highlight alleged irregularities and favouritism in the Rafale deal.
