Fire breaks out at Big Bazaar outlet on Tulsi Pipe Road near Matunga Road station

A massive fire broke out at the Big Bazaar outlet in Mumbai’s Matunga (West) area on Monday evening.

According to preliminary information, the blaze broke out at the supermarket around 5:10 pm. The outlet is located on the ground floor of New Era House in Hanuman Nagar on Tulsi Pipe Road near Matunga Road station.

Mumbai Fire Brigade was immediately alerted about the mishap, following which five fire tenders and a quick response vehicle were rushed to the spot. The first tender reached the spot at 5:16 pm, after which the blaze was escalated to Level-II.

The fire is confined to the ground floor, with a thick cloud of smoke emanating from the structure’s roof. Fire fighting is underway as of publishing this report.

No casualties have been reported till now as all persons inside the shopping centre managed to exit the premises on time. However, heavy monetary loss is estimated.
