The Level-III blaze was confined to plastic material stored inside a closed godown in Parmar House Industrial Estate in Kanch Pada, Malad

A major fire broke out at a closed plastic godown in Mumbai’s Malad area on Tuesday night.

According to officials, the fire broke out around 7:50 pm in a godown inside Parmar House Industrial Estate, located in Mamledar Wadi in Kanch Pada area of Malad West.

The affected structure was located on the ground floor of the ground-plus-three storey building.

Mumbai Fire Brigade was alerted about the mishap at 7:57 pm and the first team of responders arrived at the spot at 8:27 pm. The fire call was escalated to Level-II at 8:30 pm and later to Level-III at 9:50 pm.

Eight fire tenders, one quick response vehicle, and six jumbo water tankers were pressed into service to douse the blaze. The fire was confined to plastic material stored in an area of about 2,000 sq.ft.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the mishap as the godown was closed at the time of the incident.

The exact cause of the fire and the complete extent of the damage to the structure is not yet known.
