Massive fire engulfs 2 shops near Vandana Cinema, Thane

A fire broke out in a shop located in a commercial building near Vandana Cinema in Thane West on Wednesday afternoon.
According to preliminary information, the fire broke out around 1 pm in one of the shops located at Shivanand Udyog Sankul Building, located at Makhamali Talav near Vandana Theatre.
After Thane Municipal Fire Brigade was alerted about the mishap, three fire engines were dispathed to the spot. By the time officials from the fire department reached the area, the neighbouring shop had also been engulfed by the blaze.
Eye-witnesses said fire officials faced some difficulty while getting to the source of the fire. In one of the videos, recorded by a bystander, officials can be seen attempting to douse the flames from the compound of the adjacent building.
No casualties have been reported as of now. However, heavy monetary loss is estimated.
The cause of fire is not yet known and fire-fighting is underway as of publishing this report. Further details are awaited.
