Six Mumbai bar girls among 16 arrested for partying, consuming liquor in Igatpuri
A group of 16 persons, including six women, were arrested on Sunday night for allegedly partying and consuming liquor in a public place at Talegaon-Shivar near Igatpuri in Nashik district.
According to officials from Igatpuri police station, the incident took place last night in the open area of a local hotel.
The cops were called to the scene by villagers, who protested against loud music and dance at the party.
The six women, among the sixteen arrested, worked in dance bars in Mumbai and are believed to have been brought to the party by those who organised it.
“The ten arrested men hail from different localities in Nashik. The bar girls are from Mumbai,” assistant police inspector MY Mandave of Igatpuri police station was quoted saying.
Mandave added that the accused have been booked under sections 294 (obscene acts in public place), 34 (act done by several people with common intent) and relevant sections of the Bombay Police Act and further investigation was underway.
