Two drug peddlers arrested from Wadala hotel, 4.5 kg hashish seized
Mumbai police arrested two men from a hotel in Wadala on Wednesday and seized 4.5 kg hashish worth around Rs 9 lakh from their possession.
According to reports, Police sub-inspector Ashwini Mane received a tip-off about two persons coming to Wadala to sell some hashish (hash), a drug made from the resin of the cannabis plant.
Acting on the tip-off, officials laid a trap and managed to arrest the suspects from Hariyali Hotel in Wadala East.
The accused were identified as Mushtaq Anwar Ali (22) and Mahmood Umar Hussain Jeeva (52). Mushtaq is a resident of Sakinaka, while Umar lives in Versova, Andheri.
Wadala police have registered a case against both of them under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and a probe in the matter is underway.
The arrest comes two days after Bandra unit of Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) arrested a Nigerian man from Khar and seized 1.2 kg high-quality cocaine worth Rs 6.12 crore from his possession.
