Two youths killed in late night bike accident at Lalbaug flyover near Byculla
Two youngsters died in a road mishap after their speeding bike rammed into the divider at Lalbaug flyover in Mumbai during the wee hours of Friday.
The mishap took place around 2:30 am today, when the duo were travelling on the south-bound lane of the flyover towards Byculla. They were riding a Bajaj Pulsar 220 (MH-03-CR-2611).
According to preliminary information, the incident transpired after the rider lost control of the speeding bike and rammed into the divider on their left-hand side. Owing to the speed, the bike skid around 20 metres before coming to a halt.
The rider and the pillion, reportedly identified as Yasin and Vijay, sustained severe injuries and were rushed to nearby JJ Hospital by authorities. However, both succumbed to their injuries.
Police subsequently informed their families about their demise. Both were residents of Bhandup.
Meanwhile, a case of accidental death has been registered and probe to ascertain the exact cause of the incident is underway.
The mishap comes five days after a 17-year-old biker, riding triple-seat and without a helmet, died in a road mishap at Reclamation in Bandra area.
While cops said the accident was caused due to rash and illegal riding, the teen’s parents alleged that the mishap took place after the teen was hit by a cop.
