In a shocking incident, a vegetable vendor from Dadar allegedly stabbed a customer over a payment dispute of Rs 10 on Monday night.

According to Dadar Assistant Commissioner of Police Sunil Gawker, the accused has been identified as 25-year-old Soni Lal Mahonto.

The incident took place around 11 pm on Monday when Mohammed Hanif had gone to purchase vegetables from the market in Dadar area.

While making the purchase, an argument broke out between the man and the vendor over the cost of the vegetables. The dispute quickly escalated to a point that the latter stabbed him with his vegetable knife.

The accused stabbed Hanif several times on his neck and hands before fleeing the spot, the police said.

“As soon as we were informed about the incident, we reached the spot and rushed the man to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead,” Gawker said.

Shivaji Nagar police have registered a case of murder against the accused and initiated an investigation in the matter.
