The fire broke out on the first floor of Central Plaza Mall in Malad earlier today
A major fire broke out in a mall in Mumbai’s Malad area on Tuesday morning.
According to officials, the fire broke out on the first floor of Central Plaza Mall, located on Daftary Road at Shivaji Nagar in Malad (E), around 11:15 am today.
Mumbai Fire Brigade was alerted about the mishap, following which two fire tenders were rushed to the spot. The blaze was escalated to Level-II at 11:35 am, after which a total of five fire engines and four water tankers were pressed into service.
Officials from fire brigade managed to douse the blaze after an hour of fire fighting.
While no casualties were reported in the incident, a sizeable monetary loss due to the destruction of property is estimated.
The cause of fire is not yet known.
