19-year-old stabs friend for getting him caught for ‘drunk driving’
On Monday, Thane police arrested a 19-year-old for assaulting and stabbing his friend for snitching on him.
The accused, identified as Mayur Yadav, was charged for drunk driving on Saturday. Yadav suspected that his 17-year-old friend had tipped off the traffic cop about his inebriated state and decided to take revenge.
On Saturday evening, Yadav casually asked his friend to meet him on the service road at Wagle Estate. As soon as he arrived, Yadav and two others started assaulting him. Later, they stabbed him with a knife on the shoulder and fled from the spot.
Passersby spotted the victim lying on the road and moaning in pain. They rushed him to a nearby hospital and informed the police.
Based on the victim’s statement, the police arrested Yadav from his residence at Highland Residency. Later, the accused was produced in a magistrate’s court where he was remanded in police custody till June 23. The police are currently on the lookout for Yadav’s accomplices.
