Accident at Goregaon station affects WR services during peak hours on Tuesday
Commuters were in for a rough time on peak hours during Tuesday morning, when services on the Western line were affected due to an accident at Goregaon station.
Around 9 am, a passenger was injured while trespassing on platform 2 of Goregaon station. The injured passenger, who is currently unidentified, lost one of his limbs in the accident. The victim, in his 20s, has been rushed to a nearby hospital.
Subsequently, all trains were diverted to the fast lane. A few minutes later, an announcement pertaining to a technical glitch was made.
As of 10:10 am, slow trains towards Churchgate are running late by 30 minutes and fast trains are delayed by 15-20 minutes. The incident has not affected down services.
Western line carries the maximum number of passengers among Mumbai suburban trains and an estimated 2-3 lakh passengers travel on the route towards Churchgate during this time slot.

Update (10:40 am): WR has confirmed that the injured passenger was trespassing when he met with an accident. Trains had to be stopped for some time due to the incident. No update on whether there was any other technical glitch. Services are still delayed.
