Bollywood actor Aditya Pancholi has been booked for allegedly abusing and threatening a car mechanic over a pending bill payment.

The incident came to light after the mechanic, Mosin Kadar Rajapkar (47), approached Versova police station and lodged a complaint against the actor, alleging that the latter threatened to kill him when he was asked to settle the repair bill.

According to the complaint, Pancholi had given his Land Cruiser SUV for servicing and repairing to Rajapkar in March 2017. Since it could not be repaired in Mumbai, it was sent to Delhi.

After completing the necessary work, Rajapkar delivered it to the actor in February 2018 along with a bill of Rs 2.82 lakh.

Since then, the mechanic had been asking the 54-year-old actor to clear the bill, but he kept ignoring his demands. Whenever the mechanic would ask for payment, the actor would abuse and threaten him.

After the matter escalated, Rajapkar filed a complaint, following which police registered a case against Pancholi under section 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.

“On the complaint of the mechanic we have registered a non-cognisable offence against the actor and our probe is underway,” said Ravindra Badgujar, senior inspector of the Versova police station.

Pancholi, meanwhile, denied any wrongdoing. “I have made all the payments and I have bank statements, in fact, he kept my car for one year for no reason,” he told Times Now.

Since the offence is non-cognisable, police cannot arrest the actor on their own accord. They will have to approach a court in order to begin investigation and issue warrant in case of an arrest.
