Gutter overflows in Kurla, renders road inaccessible for pedestrians
While the rest of the city welcomed some light showers on Tuesday morning, Kurla residents faced a harrowing time as a clogged gutter started overflowing and waterlogged an entire road near Kale Marg.
By 1 pm, the entire Bail Bazaar Road at Kale Marg in Kurla (West) was flooded with water from one end to the other. The center portion, where the gutter was located, was worst affected with.
“The water started overflowing after it rained in the morning. The Bail Bazaar road gets waterlogged very easily every year. It’s just that most of this water is coming from the gutter and that increases the chances of diseases spreading in the area. The footpath is also very small,” said Moez, a local resident who was standing just off the junction waiting for a rickshaw.
Incidentally, the footpath towards the south-end has also rendered inaccessible by a massive gap right next to the pan shop, forcing pedestrians to step down in water.
The civic body has been alerted about the overflowing gutter, but is yet to arrive on the spot.
Further details awaited.
