Major fire breaks out in residential building at 90 feet road in Dharavi, Mumbai
A massive fire broke out in a residential building in Dharavi, Mumbai on Monday afternoon.
The blaze started around 3:30 pm in a VOC Tower building, located opposite Kamraj School in Kamala Nehru Nagar on 90 feet road in Dharavi.
Eight fire engines were immediately rushed to the spot following the incident, ANI reported. Firefighting is still underway as of writing this report.
According to preliminary information, the fire originated in one of the flats on the fourth floor of the building. The flat was reportedly empty when the incident took place. Soon, other houses in the vicinity were also vacated.
Fire department is yet to issue a statement regarding the cause of fire and number of casualties, if any.
With an estimated 10 lakh residents, Dharavi is home to the third-largest slum in the world, and second-largest in Asia.
