In a tragic incident, a grandmother and her two grandchildren were found murdered at her Malwani residence on Thursday.

The victims, 47-year-old Babli Shaw and her grandchildren, Aryan Ismail Shaikh (13) and Sania Ismain Shaikh (8), were residents of Plot No 23, New Collector Compound, Malwani, Malad.

After the neighbours informed Malwani police, cops cordoned off the area and sent the bodies to a nearby hospital for postmortem. Later, it was learnt that all three were murdered on Wednesday night.

Due to the severity of the crime, police immediately sprung into action and started investigation. All informers from the area were alerted and asked to be on the lookout for the accused.

In a press conference held today morning, Mumbai Police Crime Branch informed media that they have arrested three persons, including a woman, in connection with the killings. The accused were arrested from Valsad, Gujarat on Saturday.

While cops refrained from revealing all the details pertaining to the investigation, a Crime Branch officer confirmed, “We identified the suspects using technical surveillance and tracked their phones and got to them.”

According to the police, the accused killed the trio over a money dispute. Shaw had reportedly borrowed the money from one of the accused and failed to return it.

All three are currently in police custody.
