Man crushed to death in Sunder Nagar, Malad after tree falls on car
A man was crushed to death in Malad on Friday morning after a tree fell on the car while he was sitting inside.
The incident occurred around 8 am on Friday near Dalmia College in Sunder Nagar, Malad.
Two passengers were seated in the light grey Volkswagen Vento (MH 47 K 3731) when the tree suddenly collapsed and fell on the car’s roof. The driver, who is yet to be identified, was crushed to death after the weight of the tree forced the roof to give in.
According to an onlooker, the car was stationary when the half a century old tree collapsed.
The tree also fell on a Honda Amaze (MH 02 DN 3006) that was stationed parallel to the Vento at the time of the incident. However, the passengers of the Amaze managed to get out unhurt.
“It has been raining heavily since last night. The tree might have given in because of the heavy rain, but we are still investigating,” said an official from the BMC department.
Officials from the fire department and disaster management cell are currently on the spot, trying to clear the debris from the road.
The deceased had reportedly dropped his kid to school just before the incident.
Further details are awaited.
