MNS corporator arrested by Dadar police for sending lewd message to woman on WhatsApp
Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) corporator Sudhir Jadhav was arrested by the Dadar police on Thursday for allegedly sending a lewd message to a 34-year-old woman.
According to officials, Jadhav (41) surrendered at Dadar police station after an offence was registered against him on a complaint by the woman. Jadhav had allegedly sent lewd message to the complainant through instant messaging platform WhatsApp.
While speaking to a leading daily earlier this week, Jadhav had dismissed the complaint, stating that it was politically motivated. The victim, however, claimed to have records of multiple messages and calls from his personal number.
In her complaint, the women alleged that Jadhav came to his house for campaigning on January 28. Although she wasn’t home at the time, she received the first message from him after that.
Police booked Jadhav under section 354 of IPC (outraging a woman’s modesty). After coming to know that case was registered against him, Jadhav himself surrendered before police, said Sunil Deshmukh, Assistant Commissioner of Police.
He was subsequently produced before a court which released him on bail bond of Rs 7,000, the ACP said.
Jadhav’s constituency, ward 184, has been reserved for women for the upcoming polls. As a result, his wife Snehal will be contesting from the seat this time.
