Mumbai FYJC admission process pushed forward by a day
The Education Department has allowed FYJC aspirants from the city another day to confirm their admissions under the second merit owing to the confusion over the Eid Holiday. As a result, students will be able to take or cancel admission to junior colleges on Saturday as well.
While speaking to TOI, Assistant Deputy Director of Education Rajendra Ahire said, “The initial dates for admissions under the second merit list were July 5, 7 and 8. July 6 was declared as holiday for Eid. However, Eid was finally celebrated on July 7 across the country. Due to the celebrations, some students may not have been able to complete the admission process in time. Hence, colleges and students will get an additional day to complete the admission process.”
Ahire also added that by extending the date by one day, the admission process has been pushed forward by a day.
Old Dates:
11th July: Announcement of third merit list
12th and 13th July: Admission process in colleges
New Dates:
12th July: Announcement of third merit list
13th and 14th July: Admission process in colleges
The list will be announced at 5 pm and aspirants will be able to secure admissions by visiting colleges between 10 am and 5 pm on 13th and 14th July.
By the announcement of the second merit list, 15,500 students had not been allotted seats under the online process. After the third list is announced, the department will take a call on whether a fourth list is required.
Once the online rounds are complete, the counselling round for those who have not been allotted seats will begin. The dates for the counselling round are currently undecided.
