Teens unintentionally steal gun from builder, dump it in Bandra nullah
The Government Railway Police (GRP) have arrested two teenagers, both aged 17, for allegedly stealing a US-made revolver, four live cartridges and Rs 16,000 cash from a Navi Mumbai developer, who was on-board an outstation train.
The robbery took place on Friday, when the victim, Vanveer Rajput was fast asleep in his first class compartment of Bhuj-Bandra express. The two boys targeted him in his sleep and stole his revolver and ammunition along with some cash.
After a complaint was lodged by Rajput about his missing belongings, police swung into action and nabbed the teens. While only Rs 4,000 was recovered from them, the weapons were missing. During interrogation, they revealed that they threw the weapons in a nullah opposite Bandra terminus as they were scared.
From the last two days, workers, under the official’s supervision, have been trying to find the firearm inside the nullah, but to no avail. The revolver was allegedly worth Rs 3.5 lakh.
Meanwhile, the two accused have been sent to Dongri observation home and search operation will be resumed once the rain stops.
