Unholi numbers: Cops registered 13,345 cases of traffic violations

Thanks to the presence of over 25,000 cops on city roads, no major accident was reported yesterday. However, the cops registered 13,345 cases of traffic violations in a mere 12 hours.

The drive, that began at 8 am and continued till 8 pm, was conducted by both the city’s traffic police department and the local police stations.

Throughout the day, the police caught 10,715 bikers for not wearing a helmet, and 438 motorists for riding triple-seat on the bike.

The police caught 687 people for drink driving while 62 motorists were booked for rash driving.

The traffic department registered 1,078 other cases during the day as policemen continued taking action against various violations.

Errant motorists caught for drink driving are slapped a fine of Rs 2,000 and their vehicles were also seized.
