55-year-old shows a day late for flight, causes commotion at Mumbai airport
On Sunday, a 55-year-old man created a ruckus at Mumbai airport after authorities didn’t allow him to board his flight to Chennai.
When Chennai- based, G Paul Fredrick arrived at Mumbai airport for a flight back home, CISF security personnel did not let him in because the date on his boarding pass was of the previous day.
The 55-year-old then claimed that he’d been given the wrong boarding pass and that his flight was on April 16 despite the fact that his boarding pass clearly specified his booking for an IndiGo flight (6E459) for April 15.
After being rebuffed by the CISF personnel, Fredrick approached the IndiGo ticket counter. When IndiGo staff informed him of his mistake, he started causing a commotion by yelling and hurling abuses at them.
After several attempts of calming him down failed, the IndiGo staff dragged him to the airport police station at about 8:10 PM and filed a complaint against him under Section 510 of the IPC- misconduct in public by a drunk person.
Fredrick was made to pay a hefty fine of Rs 1,200 by the airport police before being letting him go around 11 PM.
Later, in a statement to the press, IndiGo acknowledged the incident and said that Fredrick was drunk and had misbehaved with their female staffers when they informed him about his mistake.
