On Tuesday evening, a 60-year-old was stabbed to death after he entered into an altercation with 8 youngsters at Fattubhilla village in Punjab.

The incident occurred around 7.30 pm on Tuesday when the youngsters identified as Nihal Singh, Jodhvir Singh, Balkar Singh, Harjinder Singh (Kala), Palwinder Kaur (Pinki), Hardyal Singh, Ajmer Singh and Dara Singh, stopped their tractor outside the senior citizen’s house and started playing a ‘vulgar’ Punjabi song.

The elderly, identified as Makhtoor Singh, took offense to the song and went outside to confront the people who were playing it. He asked them to either stop playing the song or go somewhere else and play. However, the youths were adamant about staying and started arguing with Makhtoor.

Later, the argument turned violent and Ajmer Singh reportedly attacked the elderly with a sharp knife. When the family saw the man being attacked they rushed outside to save him, but Ajmer and others attacked them too.

The senior-citizen and four others family members – wife Jasbir Kaur, son Gurnek Singh, daughter Ramandeep Kaur and brother Rachhpal Singh – were rushed to Guru Nanak Dev Hospital in the vicinity.

Makhtoor was declared dead on arrival, while the family members were treated for their minor injuries.

The police have registered a murder case against Ajmer and his accomplices. Further investigation is underway and cops are on the lookout for the accused.
