Over 60,000 arms licenses given in Maharashtra, highest in Mumbai

1. According to information provided to RTI activist Chetan Kothari, over 62,000 arms licenses have been issued in Maharashtra till March 2015.
2. In his RTI query, Kothari had sought the details on total number of arms licenses issued in the state.
3. As per the information received, Mumbai topped the list cities with maximum arms licenses with a total of 9,467 licenses issued till March 2015.
4. After Mumbai, Pune and Thane followed with 6,916 and 5,400 arms licenses issued respectively. Ratnagiri stood fourth with a total of 4,795 licenses.
5. On the other end of the spectrum, Gondia had issued the least number of arms licenses with a count of 19. Wardha issued the second lowest number of licences with only 138 issued till 2015.
