The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has sent a notice to Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor over an alleged illegal construction of a terrace gym at his Juhu residence.

According to a BMC official, the ‘Gunday’ actor has encroached on the terrace by constructing a 30×16 sq ft room without permission. The actor lives on the 7th floor of Raheja Orchid building in Juhu.

The illegal construction was brought to light by an activist, who does not live in the building, but was in know about the same.

The BMC started investigating the activist’s allegation about the irregularities back in March, following which it sent a show-cause notice to the actor asking him to produce documents proving that he had been allowed to construct a brick wall, sliding window panes, and placing a metal sheet on the terrace roof.

Since Kapoor failed to produce the necessary documents, another notice to demolish the illegal alterations was sent by the designated officer of K-West ward in July. Post which, the actor’s manager approached K-West ward officer Parag Masurkar asking for more time to regularize the structure.

However, since the structure was neither razed or regularized, the BMC sent Kapoor a final notice last week asking him to allow their staff to demolish the unauthorized structure. The civic body plans to raze the structure this week.

“We have issued a final order asking Arjun Kapoor to allow us to enter his premises to demolish the unauthorized structure on the terrace,” Masurkar said.

The actor remained unavailable for comment.
