Smita Thackeray to produce biopic on the life of Balasaheb Thackeray
Smita Thackeray, film producer and daughter-in-law of Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray, is set to produce the biopic on the life of her late father-in-law.
Smita believes that Balasaheb’s life story an inspiring one and needs to be told to the whole world.
While speaking to media, Smita said, “Balasaheb has always been an enigma and a legend for both his followers and his family. It is always an honour to be a part of his journey. I believe that his life’s story needs to be shared and I am glad that my son, Rahul, has taken up the challenge on making this biopic on his grandfather and my father-in-law.”
The film, titled ‘Saheb’, was announced last year in August. It will be produced by ‘Mary Kom’ director Omung Kumar along with Sandeep Singh, Rashid Saeed and Smita herself.
The biopic will be helmed by her son Rahul and is expected to go on floors by October after the cast is finalised. In the past, Smita has produced Bollywood movies like Sandwich, Haseena Maan Jaayegi and a few more.
