Special court issues non-bailable warrant against Vijay Mallya

The Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court issued a non-bailable warrant against Kingfisher Airlines owner Vijay Mallya today.
The court also rejected the plea by Kingfisher Airlines challenging Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) claim that Rs 430 crore was siphoned off by the liquor baron for acquiring properties abroad. Kingfisher had said that ED’s allegations were ‘factually incorrect’.
On April 15, the ED had moved the special court seeking the warrant against Mallya who is currently in the UK.
The 60-year-old industrialist was summoned thrice by the agency to record his statement, but the former ‘king of good times’ failed to appear each time.
