The defaced homepage of NGT’s website

A group of suspected Pakistani hackers managed to gain access and deface the homepage of National Green Tribunal’s website on Monday.

The website (http://www.greentribunal.gov.in/), which is maintained by the Centre’s Information and Technology department, was defaced around 7 pm on Monday.

A group named ‘D4RK 4NG31’ has taken ownership of the attack.

The hackers removed the website’s original homepage and replaced it with the picture of an angry kid, with the following text:

We are Unbeatable
#OpIndia

You mother f**kers kill innocent people in kashmir and call your self defenders or your country

You little b**ches violate the cease fire on border and call it “Surgical Strikes” Now kiss the burn of Cyber War

The group defaced the website in response to Indian Army’s surgical strikes on terrorist launch pads across the Line of Control.

An official statement from the department is awaited. Meanwhile, efforts to restore the site are underway.

While this isn’t the first time an Indian government website was hacked by a Pakistani hacker group, as long as tension prevails between both nations, one more such attacks to follow in the coming days.

In the past too, especially during the height of Kargil war, hacker groups from both India and Pakistan had resorted to defacing the websites of the neighbouring country’s government in a bid to exact ‘cyber revenge’.

The attack on the National Green Tribunal’s website comes a day after the Indian Army camp in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district was attacked by fidayeen militants.
