Virat Kohli rises to top in ICC T20 rankings, Team India remains No 1
India’s premier batsman Virat Kohli reclaimed the top spot in the ICC ‘s rankings for batsmen in T20 Internationals, replacing Australia’s Aaron Finch.
Kohli who single-handedly steered Team India in the semifinals after defeating Australia in the quaterfinal World T20 match, today became the top-ranked batsman, while India remained at the No.1 spot in the team list.
The 27-year-old cricketer averages 92 after scoring 184 runs in four matches at a strike-rate of over 132, had entered the tournament 24 points behind Aaron Finch. He has now opened up a 68-point advantage over the Australian.
The Delhi dasher was rested for the three-match series against Sri Lanka but he was back with a bang in the Asia Cup T20. His 49 against a hostile Pakistan pace on the Dhaka pitch earned him rave reviews.
In the bowlers’ table, West Indies’ Samuel Badree has displaced Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin to return to the number-one position.
Four of the top five sides will feature in the semifinals of the ICC World Twenty20, which will be played in Delhi and Mumbai on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively.
New Zealand will take on England in the first semi-final in Delhi on Wednesday and India will go head to head with West Indies in Mumbai on Thursday.
