Youth dies in hospital as doctors watch India-West Indies semifinal
The doctors and other staff at a Mathura-based hospital allegedly failed to attend a
critically injured youth, Sonu, on Thursday as they were busy watching the India-West Indies match. Consequently, the youth succumbed to his wounds next morning at the hospital.
According to Sonu’s father, Sonu and Monu were attacked by 5 locals on Thursday. Though Monu managed to flee, Sonu had sustained serious injuries. Post that he was rushed to the hospital by passersby.
At the hospital, when Sonu’s family had arrived, they saw that Sonu was not being attended properly. The staff administered Sonu and said they’ll be back soon with medication. The entire staff was busy watching the T20 cricket match between India and West Indies. Post match, Sonu was given few pain killers and asked to rest.
The police has registered an FIR against the hospital by Sonu’s father. Chief Medical Officer, Mathura, KP Garg assured them action against the erring staff. On Saturday Garg recommend severe action against Dr Dharmveer, Dr Sushil and Nurse Poonam Sharma to Principal Secretary Health.
