Fire breaks out in B-Wing of Trade World building in Kamala Mills
A fire broke out at Trade World building located in the bustling Kamala Mills compound in Mumbai on Tuesday morning. The compound, which witnessed one of the most horrific fires in the city in recent times, houses several offices and eateries.
According to preliminary information, the fire broke out in the B-Wing of Trade World building around 10 am today.
The building, located in Kamala Mills Compound on Senapati Bapat Marg in Lower Parel, houses offices of Tata Housing, Reliance Mutual Fund, Siyarams among several others.
The fire department was alerted about the mishap immediately following the incident, post which a team from Mumbai Fire Brigade arrived at the spot with two fire tenders.
The blaze was brought under control after a few minutes of firefighting.
A short circuit is suspected to have caused the fire. However, a confirmation from the fire department is awaited.
The incident did not result in any casualties. Further details are awaited.
The blaze comes months after 14 people were killed, and over 50 were injured, in a massive fire that broke out at two pubs in the same compound in December last year.
On a separate note, the city received heavy rainfall on Tuesday morning, affecting the movement of both rail and road traffic.
While road traffic was primarily affected due to waterlogging in certain pockets, rail traffic on Western line came to a complete halt due to the collapse of a road-over-bridge near Andheri station.
