Aamir messages Salman after watching Sultan
Competitors and contemporaries are seldom as gracious as Aamir Khan, who was gushing over Salman’s recently released film ‘Sultan’ despite working on a similar film himself.
Back in May, reports claimed that Aamir was miffed with Salman after he saw Sultan’s trailer. The ‘Ghulam’ actor reportedly felt that the films were too similar and the maker’s shouldn’t have showcased the dhobi pachad in the trailer, a pivotal aspect of his upcoming film ‘Dangal’.
Although later, Aamir rubbished the reports and clarified that there was no love lost between him and Salman and he wanted both films to do well. He also admitted that since his film was releasing in December, almost 6 months after Sultan, the movies won’t have any impact on each other’s box-office collection.
Sultan, which released to packed audiences yesterday, has left a lasting impression on both critics and audiences. Bollywood’s Mr Perfectionist, who saw the movie last night, was also visibly impressed with the film. So much so, that the actor took to his micro-blogging account and shared a tweet that read, “Saw Sultan last night . OUTSTANDING! Ali Abbas shines as writer and director. Salman and Anushka are superb. Will break all records! Don’t miss it!”
According to Bollywood Life, the actor was even gushing about the movie during an Eid meet today, “Bahut Bhayankar film banayi hai. I just loved it, no other words. Kahin bhi mujhe kami nahi lagi. Salman ne kitna accha perform kiya hai. Romance, gaane bhi itni khoobsurat hai. It’s an outstanding film.”
But the praises didn’t end there. The actor, who was a tad teary eyed after the film, messaged Salman late last night and confessed, “Main issmein bhi roya hu. Badi emotional lagi yaar. I texted Salman last night.”
Aamir obviously realises that comparisons will be drawn when ‘Dangal’ releases a few months down the line, but that hasn’t stopped him for rooting for Salman’s film.
Meanwhile, Sultan garnered a massive opening at the box office with an estimated collection of around Rs 37-38 crore. What’s more, it has even broken the following records on day one of it’s release:
# Biggest opener of 2016 (beating Fan’s collection of 19.20 crore)
# Highest opening day collection for a sports based film (surpassing Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’s 9 crore)
# Highest collection in advance bookings (beating both Kick and Bajrangi Bhaijaan)
# Highest collection on a Wednesday (surpassing Ek Tha Tiger’s 32.9 crore)
# Biggest opening on Eid (leaving behind Bajrangi Bhaijaan’s Rs 27.25 crore)
