Bhojpuri actress raped by singer, cameraman in Jogeshwari

A singer and cameraman allegedly raped a Bhojpuri actress after spiking her cold drink with a sedative in Jogeshwari last Wednesday.

The 28-year-old actress resides in Mira Road with her husband and two children. Over the last few years, she has featured in a couple of Bhojpuri song videos.

Around 12 months back, she got acquainted with singer Alam after shooting a video for one of his songs. On Wednesday, a cameraman associated with the singer called the actress to Alam’s office at Adarsh Nagar in Jogeshwari to discuss the possibility of shooting for his upcoming songs. She was told that she would be paid handsomely to feature in the videos.

The victim reportedly reached Goregaon station around 7:30 pm, from where the cameraman, identified as Abhay Tiwari, picked her up. The two then proceeded to Alam’s office. During the first few minutes, Alam and the victim discussed about the video and remuneration, as usual.

However, according to the police complaint, the victim was later offered a drink that was allegedly laced with a sedative. After consuming it, she fell unconscious and was taken to a separate room where the singer and cameraman reportedly took turns to rape her.

After regaining consciousness, she noticed that both Alam and Tiwari were not in the vicinity and fled from the spot.

On Thursday, the victim narrated the incident to her husband and the couple filed a police complaint with Oshiwara police station on Friday. After registering the FIR, cops managed to nab Tiwari from his residence in Goregaon. However, Alam is still absconding.

Meanwhile, the victim was sent for medical examination. Tiwari was also produced in a local court and later remanded to police custody. The 31-year-old has been booked for rape.

The police is still on the lookout for Alam.
