Mumbai’s busiest railway stations to get anytime-pizza vending machines
If you are tired of the limited variety of eating options at Mumbai’s railway stations, you will be delighted to hear that the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is mulling over installing ‘anytime pizza’ machines at five of the busiest railway stations across the city on a pilot basis.
The stations where the machines will be installed during the pilot run are Mumbai Central, Andheri, Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST), Kalyan and Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT).
Like any vending machine, buyers can simply put in a token and select the necessary varieties or toppings from the list of options. Once the options are selected and the order is confirmed, the machine does everything from kneading the dough, placing the toppings and baking the pizza.
The machine dispenses freshly made 10.5″ thin-crust Italian pizzas within four minutes and allows buyers to catch a glimpse of the preparation process from a transparent opening.
The vendor, Yess Pizza, has already installed one such machine in Thane. They are now in talks with the IRCTC extend the service to five more stations. The team has already visited some of the stations and chosen an optimal location for the installation of the machines.
According to one report, while the concept of anytime-pizza was conceptualized in Netherlands, it’s parts are made in Japan and the final assembly is done in China.
