Andheri-Goregaon Harbour Line Extension: Details of extended services starting April 1
Railway Minister Piyush Goyal on Thursday flagged off the inaugural run of the extended Harbour line service from Andheri to Goregaon. Prior to this, Harbour line services would terminate at Andheri on Western Railway.
The extension is expected to immediately benefit more than 13,000 daily commuters between Borivali-Andheri who will now be able to board the Harbour line trains bound for CSMT from Goregaon.
Regular services on the extended route are expected to start next week, from April 1, 2018.
“The Harbour line will be further extended till Borivali, which will make commuting easy for those traveling to CSMT from Western Suburbs,” Goyal said, adding the Union government has undertaken Rs 54,777 crore-worth projects for improving the railway infrastructure in Mumbai.
Details of services starting April 1, 2018:
A total of 42 Harbour line services will be operated between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Goregaon and seven services will operate between Churchgate and Goregaon on the Western corridor.
* CSMT-Andheri Harbour line services leaving CSMT from 09.56 am to 18.37 pm (21 services) will be extended to Goregaon. There will be no changes in the timings on CSMT-Andheri section.
* Andheri-CSMT Harbour line services leaving Andheri from 09.53 am to 19.29 pm (21 services) will leave Goregaon from 09.42 am to 19.18 pm respectively (running time between Andheri and Goregaon is 11 minutes). There will be no changes in the timings on Andheri-CSMT section.
* The five existing services run by Western Railway (3 Andheri-CSMT and 2 CSMT-Andheri) will also be extended to Goregaon.
* There will be no change in timings of other trains of Harbour line trains.
In the coming weeks, CR may also extend a few Panvel-Andheri services to Goregaon.
