Lawyer seeks probe into Raj Thackeray’s ‘another Pulwama-like terror attack’ remark
Veteran journalist and lawyer S Balakrishnan has sought a police inquiry into MNS chief Raj Thackeray’s recent remark about “Pulwama-like” terror attack before the Lok Sabha polls.
The lawyer submitted a written complaint to Chembur police station on Sunday demanding a probe into the claim made by the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief about the possibility of another attack in the country.
Several media reports quoted Thackeray as saying, “mark my words there will be yet another Pulwama-like incident in the country.”
In his application to Chembur Police, the veteran journalist has stated that Thackeray is a senior and responsible politician, whose statements should be taken seriously.
“He appears to be certain of a repeat of the Pulwama- type terror attack that took place on February 14 and resulted in the killing of 40 CRPF jawans in Jammu and Kashmir,” Balakrishnan was quoted as saying.
Police should record the MNS chief’s statement and inquire about the veracity of his claims, he added.
An official at Chembur police station confirmed the receipt of the application in connection with Thackeray’s remarks. However, details about the further course of action are awaited.
