A portion of a four-storey building collapsed in Mumbai’s Fort area on Friday morning.

According to preliminary information, Ahmed Building collapsed around 10:45 am today. The building, comprising primarily of commercial units, is located at Lokmanya Tilak Marg, opposite Police Commissioner’s Office.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said that no person is trapped as the building was already vacated. The cessed structure comes under MHADA’s jurisdiction.

At least seven Mumbai fire brigade vehicles including ambulance and rescue vehicles were rushed to the spot.

Further details are awaited.

The incident comes days after 14 people were rescued from the debris of a collapsed three-storey building at Crawford Market on September 11.
